I am a dedicated and passionate midwife, offering hostilic
midwifery care that is founded on women's individual needs. My
aim is to provide knowledge and resources to women and their families,
thus enlightening them to make informed choices throughout their
journey into parenthood. I believe that women have the right to
birth their babies in an environment that is safe and that suits
their individual needs. Therefore I will support women in homebirth,
waterbirth and V&HBAC ( Vaginal/ Home Birth after C Section).
I am also happy to support women who choose to birth their babies
in hospital. I embrace the opportunities, when they arise (with
backup) to support women with a Breech or Twin Pregnancy. |

I have five children of my own and they are my drive and inspiration.
I also have a beautiful Granddaughter Emma who is my little
ray of sunshine. It has been the highlight of my career
so far when I supported my own Daughter Nichola throughout
her pregnancy and birth. I am very excited about the fact that
I am currently supporting my eldest Daughter Samantha through her
pregnancy. My second Grandchild is due in April 07 so watch this
space. (I know I don't look old enough, lots of OIL OF OLAY!!!!)
When I was pregnant with my third child in 1997, my midwife
was very influential in my decision to become a midwife. It
was then that I knew which direction my life would take and so
I embarked on my incredible journey to become a midwife. I graduated
from Southampton University with my Midwifery Degree, and more
pride than I ever thought possible. Sharon Eccles BMID (Hons) RM.
WOW!!! I was living the dream.
I have had the privilege of being involved with a caseload
practice working with a group of midwives committed to fascilitating physiological
birth and reducing unnecessary interventions. The practice has
a very diverse caseload and I have been involved in supporting
women wherever they chose to give birth. Within my caseload,
20% of the women I supported had their babies at home this
included young women under the age of 18, women who have experienced
interventions in their first pregnancy such as Caesarean Section.
I have also supported women who have chosen a Waterbirth either
at home or a Birth Centre.
My ongoing commitment to providing
continuity of care and my respect for informed choice, (which
is often difficult to achieve in the current climate within the
NHS ), has led me into the world of Independent Midwifery.
So here I am awaiting the privilege of sharing in your very
joyous and special journey through Pregnancy and Childbirth. |
